Gustav Holst | Compositions, The Music of Holst

(1899) Suite de Ballet in E Flat Op. 10

- Danse rustique- Valse- Scène de Nuit- Carnival

The suite was first performed in 1904 at a Royal College of Music Patron's Fund concert under the title Suite for Orchestra in E Flat. Michael Short notes that the "Valse" has a "Ravellian lightness" Holst himself remarked in the first performance that the music "does not tell a story, but the Finale may remind listeners of a carnival."
